Notes / Commentary:

LeBlanc never saw one. It was advertised in the pages of the New York Weekly during 1873-74. Dates for v. I are based on LeBlanc's guesswork. He believed that the publication contained articles and news items in depth, similar to the earlier Beadle's Monthly.

Joe Rainone's Joe's Spotlight column in the Fall 2018 Dime Novel Round-Up confirms that the publication lasted at least into a third volume (showing a photo and describing contents of v. iii, no. 2) and provides additional details missing from LeBlanc: format, size, paper type and column count. This appears to have been more like a large story paper than LeBlanc had guessed. Rainone also notes that newspaper ads for the publication exist as late as 1877.

The price information and publisher's blurb used here come from an advertisement in the January 1, 1876 issue of The American Bookseller.
