Publisher's Blurb: "We present the first number of ONCE A WEEK, in the full confidence that it will at once find favor and acceptance. Its original tales and romances, its miscellaneous matter, its poetry, its information, its agreeable variety--ranging from grave to gay, from lively to severe--its admirable illustrations, and carefully-selected fashion-plates, together, form an exceptionally excellent periodical, and one eminently fit for family perusal. The utmost discrimination has been exercised in the choice of its material, and there is no line among all its thousands which could offend that fastidious taste which rules, and ever should rule, 'family' reading. It appeals especially to young lades and we hope and believe that among that delightful class of the community, it will find and retain countless friends. With these few preliminary remarks, and full of confidence that our new publications will find general favor, we respectfully introduce ONCE A WEEK, No. 1."
Contents: Two serials, short stories, items of interest, fashions
Notes / Commentary: LeBlanc examined only one issue (the first), and that is the only issue whose contents are described in his listing (and those very briefly). He believed the stories to be reprinted from English publications, as the scenes in the one issue reviewed are all English. Information about the number of issues published and the date of the last issue come from Madeleine Stern's book about the Leslie Publishing House, Purple Passage.
