The original series had 40 issues. The amount was increased to 50 and again to 59 at various times during the 1920's.

The first issue was titled Sherlock Holmes and was a reprint of A Study in Scarlet. No. 2 was A Study in Scarlet, making the first two numbers the same story. Number 2 was quickly replaced. It appears that the editors were not paying too much attention.
