These were probably issued in various editions. LeBlanc examined #2, 3, 7 and 12. #2 shows the head "Hilton's Dime Books" and three numbers are advertised under this title. #7 shows "Hilton's Union Novels," but list of titles shows the same issues as the previous editions. #12 is back to "Hilton's Ten Cent Novels," with a close imitation of Beadle's Dime Novels. Possibly the "Union Novels" title was used to compete with Chaney's Union Novels and others. #2 had a colored pictorial cover. Other had a pictorial cover of one color. #3, buff, #7 yellow, #12 salmon. They were undated and there is no indication as to how often they were published.
The first ten titles were advertised in Hilton's Prize Romances, 6th number, dated 1867, as "Hilton's Union Novels."
