Notes / Commentary:

It is believed that this is a change in name from the Once a Week Library. The dates correspond.

Based on discussion on the front page of The Fourth Estate: A Newspaper for the Makers of Newspapers, v. V, no. 118 (May 28, 1896), this series appears to have been used at least in part as a promotional item to encourage subscriptions to Collier's Weekly.

The original LeBlanc listing included details for only v. XIV, nos. 9-10, 14-15 and 19-20, and v. XV, nos. 15-16. Volume XV, no. 17 was added based on a digitized copy in the Internet Archive; its dating seems inconsistent with LeBlanc's listings. Volume XIV, nos. 7-8 and 18; volume XV, nos. 5-6, 13-14, 18-20 and 23; and volume XVI, nos. 15-16 were added based on WorldCat records. Beyond the Pale and The Riddle Ring were also added based on WorldCat records, but their exact positioning within the series is unclear.
