Notes / Commentary:

This series title was used for two unnumbered sets of books; this listing covers the second series; see Loring's Tales of the Day (first series, 1867-1869) for the first.

Advertisements for Horatio Alger, Jr.'s anonymously-published New Schoolma'am : A Summer at North Sparta, indicate that it was included in the "Tales of the Day" series; however, the actual book (according to Cary Sternick) does not include the series name. For that reason, it is not included in this listing.

LeBlanc listing included only A Widow of Windsor. Dot and Dime and In the Camargue added based on review in Harper's Magazine, volume 55 (1877), page 789. Remaining titles taken from WorldCat and/or the research of Cary Sternick.
