Edward Stratemeyer was a prolific author of stories for young people and founder of the Stratemeyer Syndicate that produced popular juvenile series of books. His most famous personal writing is the Rover Boys series. He personally used pseudonyms like "Arthur M. Winfield," "Capt. Ralph Bonehill," and "Edna Winfield." Popular Syndicate series of books include the Bobbsey Twins (1904), the Motor Boys (1906), Tom Swift (1910), Bomba the Jungle Boy (1926), the Hardy Boys (1927), and Nancy Drew (1930). He wrote dime novels under personal and house pseudonyms in libraries for Street & Smith (Log Cabin Library, Nick Carter Library, NY 5ยข Weekly Library), Norman L. Munro (Old Cap. Collier Library), and Beadle & Adams (Beadle 1/2 Dime Library). Many of his stories (including story paper serials) were also issued as thick paperbacks which are often called "dime novels" as well.
