Part of: The Boys of New York, v. I, no. 29, March 6, 1876 (Issue)
Date: March 6, 1876
First Sentence: Sitting under a tropical sun, with an awning spread over the quarter-deck, blue sky above me and blue water beneath, listlessly looking over the broad expanse of ocean, bounded only by the horizon; thinking of nothing in particular, but calmly enjoying that luxurious condition I had so often envied in a cat purring on the front doorstep of the old homestead on a warm summer day, and had witnessed, too, in a royal Bengal tiger at home in his native jungles.
Last Sentence: The sail proved to be a bark bound from New York to Canton, where we arrived in due time; but the ill-fated Astraea was never heard of again.
