In the latter part of the year 186-, I happened to be in Paris, that gay, beautiful city so dear to every Frenchman's heart; the city which blends every phase of human life, combining so strangely, wealth and poverty, good and evil, virtue and vice. |
Last Sentence: |
I was now anxious to get home, and as soon as I could I broke away from the admiring crowd, that followed at my heels, and quickly placed myself under the sheltering roof of my friend. |
