Good News, v. 15, no. 366, May 8, 1897 (Issue) |
Date: |
May 8, 1897 |
First Sentence: |
Among all my acquaintances I had ever been known as an extremely modest and retiring boy, but when I was unanimously elected to the secretaryship of the Bridgetown Baseball Club I felt that I must always have greatly underrated my own abilities. |
Last Sentence: |
I own that this was a great honor, but somehow I did not feel very proud over it, and instead of making me vain it seemed to have the opposite effect, for ever since I have been more modest than I was before I became secretary. |
