First Sentence: Until very lately I supposed, in common with the generality of the community, that oranges, pineapples, hurricanes, monsoons, bananas, whirlwinds, waterspouts, figs, lemons, cocoanuts, earthquakes, and Malaga grapes were the exclusive product of the tropical latitudes.
Last Sentence: On the whole, if earthquakes shake only that question sort of honesty out of folks, why, then, we don't want any more of 'em, and other folks agree with.
