First Sentence: One evening, in the early part of the year 1708, a small party of horsemen were concealed in a little wood near Minster, in the county of Kent, England, whence they were keeping sharp watch and ward upon half-ruined chapel which was situated in the middle of a field across the road.
Last Sentence: The duke arrived in London in due course, and as he was then the most influential man in England he had no difficulty in obtaining a free pardon for his friend; and when he rejoined the army, James Warrender accompanied him and shared in the honor of his future triumphs.
