First Sentence:	Some of the methods adopted by snake hunters to secure their object are most peculiar and would never be thought of by ordinary people, but these men know from long experience that in the first place their quart is generally so wary that it is almost impossible to get sufficiently near; while, once startled, a snake can move so quickly as almost to defy capture, especially if the ground be encumbered by stones or bushes.
