First Sentence: The bright sunlight of a clear April morning was shining through the half-closed shutters of the richly furnished room, that Harry Travers designated as his law office-although it was precious little law business was transacted there-for although possessed of more than an ordinary share of ability, he was by far too rich and too indolent to trouble himself about anything as tedious and perplexing as a complicated law-suit, except now and then when some case of more than ordinary interest was brought to his notice, when he would rouse from his usual apathy, and entering into the cause with heart and soul would carry it through with such masterly ability as to leave his brother lawyers far in the rear.
Last Sentence: Charlie concluded, as he thought of the two years he had been vainly endeavoring to win Miss Jessie, that he was a trifle the most of one after all!
