Good News, v. 11, no. 274, August 3, 1895 (Issue)
August 3, 1895
This said badge of honor was a deep scar on a small boy's forehead--a wound that he had received in a street fight, and for which his mother would doubtless not have withheld her hand from letting him feel the weight of her displeasure, if he had not brought in with him, at the same time, a peace-offering in the shape of a broad piece of silver.
Ike gained two friends that day--the artist and Hipperty Hop--neither of whom will fail him so long as the scar remains, which will be as long as he lives.
