A young man was continually writing poetry to his girl, greatly to the disgust of the young lady's brother, and on one occasion, after the poet had called upon the object of his affections, the brother noticed the following lines lying upon the parlor table, and which his sister had evidently not yet perused: |

When the lover again put in an appearance he was surprised at the reception extended to him in the shape of a No. 10 boot propelled by the foot of an angry old man, and as explanations were not in order, the post has gone to write patent medicine signs upon the North Pole. |
