First Sentence:	"By dead reckoning," said the master of the Golden Eagle, rising from the study of the chart, which had lain open on the cabin table between us for some time--"by dead reckoning that is about our position,: and he indicated a spot representing something like fifty miles south of Cape Horn.
Last Sentence:	The salvage money came to a pretty good sum, which, when it was divided, compensated in some measure for the hardships we had endured owing to the loss of our fine ship, the Golden Eagle.
