First Sentence: Wattles and the new teacher made their first appearance at Locustdale school-house at the same time, and they proved objects of considerable interest to the groups of boys and girls who had come together that frosty September morning to begin their winter course of study.
Last Sentence: Mr. Seaforth told us afterward, by the way, that he had himself overheard our plan to bar him our, and that Wattles was entirely innocent of tale bearing.
