First Sentence: Some years since--it is not necessary to state how many--there lived on a pleasant stretch of land near Bordentown, N. J., a family of the name of Bross--this is about as near the name as we care to go, for the reason that many of its members, wealthy and respected, are well known in New York; and we may add that what we are about to relate had nothing to do with them either as individuals or as a family.
