First Sentence: In the spring of 1862, there was living in Minnesota two families of settlers, who had removed from one of the Eastern States and taken up farms at some distance from any other white inhabitants.
Last Sentence: When Mr. H. heard of the terrible danger to which his family had been expose, he obtained a furlough, and returning home, he removed his wife and daughter to a place of safety, and when he returned to the fort, he was accompanied by his brave son.
