[In the month of May, 1866, the whaleship "Diana" sailed from the harbor of Lerwick, in the Shetland Islands, on a whaling voyage to the Arctic Ocean. On the 2d of April, 1867, the vessel was seen floating into the harbor of Ronas Voe. A boat was sent out to meet them, but having boarded her, shrunk aghast with terror. Nearly all the crew perished, and the vessel drifted into the harbor in reality a "floating coffin."] |
