First Sentence: The bananas, or plantain, is the principal fruit consumed in the tropics, and, from its nutritive qualities and general use, must be regarded as an indispensable article of food, rather than as a luxury.
Last Sentence: Only the finer bunches have a marketable value, and the rejected fruit might easily be turned to profitable account for drying and making into meal, once the proper methods were recognized.
