| First Sentence: | From across the river the white tents of the camp gleamed out from among the luxuriant foliage of a grove, and the fixed bayonets of the sentinels, walking to and fro, glittered in the bright rays of the full-orbed moon, as a small party drew rein, and looked with dismay upon the turbid, swiftly-moving waters of the swollen stream. |
