First Sentence: History informs us that, on the 13th of November, 1835, General Mexia, a great Mexican revolutionist-put to death in 1838 by order of General Santa Anna-landed at Tampico, Taumalipus, at the head of one hundred and thirty men, two-thirds of whom were Americans, and being joined by a part of Mexicans, made an assault upon the defences of the place.
