First Sentence: In the latter part of last October, a singular and well-known woman named Pharamont, who lived at No. 27 Rue de la Gare, Paris, and who had carried on a thrifty business at that locality for some years, was arrested for sorcery, or rather for swindling, but she had called herself a sorceress.
