First Sentence: The fashionables have long since taken flight, alarmed by the first intimation of approaching autumn, and, safely ensconced in their city homes, they now devoutly study fashion-plates of divers garments to be fearfully and wonderfully made, and consult modistes with a view to anticipated triumphs in the campaign of the coming winter, while we, the faithful few, who stood bravely by our summer retreats through "the first frost," are receiving our reward.
