There are many melancholy, as well as ludicrous and degraded traits in the character of the real, genuine, uniform "Bummer," as, in the prevalent fondness for slang, we have come to designate the man who has degenerated into a hopeless, shameless inebriate. |

I remember the unusual melancholy with which he spoke these words-I remember it now with a deathly chill; for they prophetic, and the speaker now fills a bummer's grave! |
