"Mr. Herron," said my old chief, "as you are doubtless aware, hardly a morning passes without the notice of 'Found Drowned' is in one of another of the daily papers, and notwithstanding the fact that the coroner stamps them all as 'suicides,' I begin to doubt his judgement..." |

I was the first man who for over a year had passed a night in Death-Room No. 5 to awaken in this life, nor would I have done so had I not unwittingly opened my window. |
