First Sentence: Just now the newspapers are full of some wondrous rides performed by our border scouts, and upon reading over the terse tales which go far to prove that we have as good men in these our modern times as the world has ever known, although perhaps we lack the poets to immortalize their deeds in bold heroic verse, I am forcibly reminded of a little episode which came to my knowledge when I spent some time at a little frontier post on the Upper Brazos in the great State of Texas.
