ENGL 330 Spring 2018's Thoughts: "Lieutenant Collins is leading a group of travelers to Santa Fe. The group stops near a canyon to rest and one of the group members, Sandy Bill, separates from the group only to later return to camp with a Native American boy in tow. Collins is able to calm the situation and stop Bill from killing the boy, who we later learn is named Coros. After they've all settled in for supper, the group sees a rider approaching. To their shock, what they thought was an Apache native, is actually a young white woman named Emilie. They learn that she is being pursued by the Apache and take her into their camp, because Collins believes it is his duty to protect her. After escaping the Apaches, Emilie tells Collins that her father is also in danger and in need of help. The group soon finds themselves in a battle to defend Emilie and her father from the Natives."--Leticia Zepeda, undergraduate student at NIU enrolled in ENGL 330, Spring 2018
