ENGL 330 Spring 2018's Thoughts: "Barden comes to shore and is welcomed by the Yuchi chief’s daughter, Anote. Barden finds out that Anote is in love with his friend, Richard Musgrove. The two are caught off guard when Occoonee, a jealous hot-headed suitor of Anote, overhears their conversation. Occoonee informs the chief of his daughter’s affections for Musgrove and offers to the kill the man. When Anote returns to her tribe, she goes to speak with her father and finds out that he has turned on his white settler friends because she has fallen for one of them. Anote tries to convince her father to leave them in peace, but he has made up his mind."--Leticia Zepeda, undergraduate student at NIU enrolled in ENGL 330, Spring 2018
