ENGL 693 Spring 2018's Thoughts:	"While on a scouting mission to determine the location of the Kickapoo Indians, two hunters behold an amazing sight: a stunningly beautiful white woman comes riding by in the company of an Indian chief and his entourage. This is the frontier land of Indiana, not long after the Battle of Tippecanoe, but it is evident that the young woman is not held captive and she is among the Indians of her own accord. Overcome by curiosity, the younger scout, Uriah Barham, is determined to trail the riders to find out who this woman is and entreat her to rejoin her own race. Reluctantly, his colleague Pete Shafer joins in and thus begins the dangerous adventure during which the scouts find themselves retreating from and then marooned on a hill by a band of Kickapoo warriors. They must find a way to ward off the Indian warriors and remain in pursuit of this Forest Princess. Intrigue is heightened by Pete’s superstition. But finally, the scouts encounter a ravine and before them lies the Indian village which the Forest Princess, Anaola, calls home. She is yet to yield to the advances of any suitors, the most determined being Red Iron, a young chief. Ignoring all warnings, Uriah Barham approaches Anaola and their encounter ignites a love for which the Forest Princess is willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice. But Red Iron will not stand idly by to let the white hunters have their way with his princess. He must show his fearlessness."--Wanjugu W.
